Japanese Sword Wakizashi Circa early shinto This is a high quality early Shinto Wakizashi by the swordsmith Inshu Ju Kanesaki from the Inaba province and appears to be most likely third or fourth generation. It is a very large and robust sword with a very fancy choji temper line. The blade is in an excellent state of polish and has a fine combination of mokume- itame hada. The blade is suriage with the machi moved up about two inches. The blade length 20 1/8 inches from the mune-machi to the tip of the kissaki. It has an overall length of the blade of 25 ¾ inches. blade has no flaws.... The black lacquer saya is in excellent condition but is missing its horn kojiri. It has an excellent condition tsuka with excellent quality shakudo fuchi-kashira (unsigned) and quality shakudo menuki with gold highlights. There is an indifferent kozuka with tea ceremony objects with gold highlights. There is quality gold foil oblique cat scratch habaki, and the seppa are also gold foil wrapped. the fuchi , kashira have raised horses on an itami ground.(much better than the photos show)The weapon has a large red copper tsuba with raised carved lobster and bamboo leaves.
