Vtg1969 Handmade Quilt-Blocks are Colored by Kindergarten Students-Class of 82 - $165 - (Mount Carmel, IL)

What a cute, cute quilt. Blue polka dotted border and backing, red polka dotted sashing between the quilt blocks. This adorable handmade quilt was made for a special kindergarten teacher in 1969. These kindergarten students would have been members of the Class of 82 graduating class. Each quilt block is colored and autographed by students in Mrs. Cooper's kindergarten class. Someone put the quilt together with the red and blue polka dotted fabric then hand tied the quilt with blue yarn. There are 3 embroidered quilt blocks with red and blue embroidery floss- Our Favorite Teacher Mrs. Cooper Class of 1982. Quilt measures approximately 55" x 54" in good condition with one small opened seam. A LITTLE HISTORY--Nathalie Brooke was born in southern Illinois. Sometime after graduating from college, Nathalie Cooper (married name) moved to California where she was a kindergarten teacher. In the fall of 1969, someone took it upon themselves to have each student in Nathalie's kindergarten class color these quilt blocks. Quilt was made then given to Nathalie Cooper as a Christmas gift. Nathalie continued to live in California the rest of her life. Sometime after her death, all of her belongs were returned to her hometown in southern Illinois. I bought this quilt at her estate sale. Adorable OOAK handmade quilt. Because the quilt blocks are colored, I don't know about laundering it.Shipping includes insurance. THANKS FOR LOOKING!
