This is the very rare R.A.F. S.E. 5a, 1917 World War 1 Fighter airplane version made in Italy by Edison Giocattoli S.p.A. The scale 1/72 and is made of diecast Metal. The R.A.F. S.E. 5a was one of several limited production, diecast aircraft made in Italy by Edison. This airplane has moveable ailerons and rear stabilizer surfaces. Includes original clear plastic display case. This airplane was manufactured by Sopwith and entered service in early 1917. British Ace, Mick Mannock, preferred this aircraft and scored 50 of his 70 victories flying this airplane during World War I. I have owned this scale aircraft for 20 years and have never remove the plane from its cradle until these photos were taken. The detail on this model is exact and the finish is immaculate. It looks like brand new. This is the first time offered for sale from my personal collection of 11 different Edison Giocattoli scale aircraft. This is Edison Giocattoli’s model number 1001 and is one of their “Heroes Wings” Series WW 1 1/72 scale Fighter airplanes.
