Favilla soprano ukulele Great vintage uke - $350 - (Portland, ME)

Very nice mahogany Favilla ukulele. It appears to be from the 40's. The neck is nice and straight and there are no cracks on the body. Very solid. It has some scratches/wear from use. Tuners hold well and it is a pleasure to play. It has a rosewood fretboard and an ebony nut and saddle with the gold Favilla logo on the headstock. Case with hygrometer included. The Favilla Co. was based in New York City and manufactured several lines of high quality guitars and ukuleles. These are considered the poor man's Martin and I have included a quote from Jake Wildwood, who repairs, restores, and sells vintage and antique instruments . "Folks that are looking for a simple vintage mainland-made mahogany soprano and don't opt for a Martin style 0 generally then drift over to these New York-made Favillas. They're a little simpler in build along the lines of Gretsch ukes, but the quality is much closer to a Martin in terms of fit, finish, durability, and overall tonal quality. These sound an awful lot like the Martin equivalent -- and that's a good thing." Jake wildwood, Antebellum Instruments
