Vintage Prewar 1930s Gibson Kalamazoo Tenor 4 String Banjo - $65,999 - (Danbury, CT)

For Sale is a vintage Kalamazoo tenor banjo made by Gibson circa 1930s. Instrument is in very nice condition for age. Comes with original case, soft cover case and vintage Elton mute.Here's the history: banjo was owned by a elderly couple who kept the instrument in a closet for nearly 50 years. Was not stored in attic or basement. Prior to that it was bought new by the man's father in Louisiana. The man played in a jazz street band down in New Orleans in the 1930s before he went went away WWII. He moved to Boston after WWII and then played in an Irish band in the 1940s. The head is original and made of skin. The bridge and tuners are original as well. Was just serviced by Fretted Instruments in Amherst Massachusetts and has new strings. Condition: "Very good for age" according to the banjo expert that serviced the instrument. He also noted that the instrument had likely not seen much use.
