2 Antique Binoculars Opera Glasses, Chevalier & Poissonniere Paris, June 29 1882 - $25 - (Oden, MI)
For your consideration is an antique lot of two binoculars or opera glasses both made in Paris, France. Both pairs were found without cases. First pair is engraved with "Mollie June 29, 1882" on front of opera glasses, it is brass with what is left of the mother of pearl grips on one side, one side has lost the mother of pearl insets and is just the brass, mother of pearl eyepieces with "D'Optique Comptoir General" on one eyepiece and "9.B Vart Poissonniere Paris" on the other eyepiece, the brass is tarnished, dust on the inside of the lenses. The second pair is brass with what is left of worn leather grips, dust on the inside of both lenses, one lens has an area of discoloration on the inside of lens, on both eyepieces is written "Optician Paris Chevalier" with a star in between the words. Both pairs still work well as I can see my neighbor shoveling snow down the way, the pearl/brass pair is a little stiff when zooming in and out. I wish we could know what these lenses have seen in their lifetimes! Great additions to your antique collection. This lot is being sold as an "as is" sale with a return not being offered. Please read description, study photos carefully and ask questions prior to placing a bid, thank you. Free shipping in the lower 48 USA.
