Avid Acutus reference SP turntable This turntable is the successor to the the product that launched the AVID brand onto the world hi-fi scene over a decade ago. The Acutus Reference provides not just a subjective but an immediately obvious lowering of the noise floor; extension of both bass and treble responses and a significant dynamic improvement. The first, and perhaps the most influential, is the power supply. A full 1kVA is on tap. This supply, itself developed over three years is the most stable, linear supply. The Advanced DSP control of the motor power is finely adjustable almost completely eliminating micro-vibrations from the motor unit. The motor suspension has been fine-tuned and a new twin belt drive system has been employed to aid grip and control. A detailed understanding of the metallurgic requirements of moving components has resulted in the refinement of the bearing system to self-lubricate and spin freely, but eliminate unwanted movement.
