Disney Mickey Mouse Picture Cards Limited Edition Set in Cherry Wood Case by Applewood Books, 1995 APPLEWOOD BOOKS Mickey Mouse Picture Cards + Album (1995) 125 cards, 2.5" x 3"; 36-page hardcover album, 6.25" x 10"; all in 8" x 12.5" x 2.25" cherry wood case The 120-card set of Mickey Mouse collector cards issued by Gum, Inc. from 1933–36 is a legendary item among collectors of vintage Disneyana. This facsimile set issued by Applewood Books in 1995 faithfully reproduces cards #1 through #96 plus ten (10) of the rare "Mickey Mouse with the Movie Stars" cards that were numbered #97 through #120 in the original set. Thirteen of the movie star cards in the original set could not be included because permission could not be obtained to use the celebrity's likeness. Therefore, new cards of Mickey Mouse with Disney Movie Stars, including one of Carl Barks and Donald Duck, were added. A 36-page hardcover album similar to that issued by Gum, Inc. in the 1930s and a pamphlet history of the cards by Disney Archivist Dave Smith complete the set. Included is the publisher's certificate of authenticity card stating that this edition was limited to 1,500 sets. Everything is housed in a custom-made, cherry wood case. This set was originally issued at $250.00. In the original unopened shipping container: MINT condition.
