0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false Tom Sutton original art for the complete 15-page story “The Secret City,” written and drawn by Sutton for the Charlton comic book Doomsday+1 #13, to be cover-dated July 1979 but cancelled before publication. The unlettered art and Sutton’s script disappeared from the Charlton files after the company went out of business in the 1980s, but the art resurfaced in the early 2000’s. Script for the finished art was recreated by former Charlton writer-editor and “E-Man” co-creator Nicola Cuti and lettered by former Charlton editor Bill Pearson. Colored by “Lum & Abner” cartoonist Donnie Pitchford, the story was finally published for the first time in a 2013 issue of the fanzine Charlton Spotlight. Pencils, inks & zipatone on DC and Charlton production boards, 11 x 17 and 12 x 19 inches respectively, image area 10 x 15 inches. The art is overall quite clean with some white correction paint, marginal scribblings and smudges, and with lettering balloons and captions waxed in place. Sutton’s original tissue overlays, indicating balloon and caption placement, are still attached to all pages. Several pages are signed by Sutton in pencil. Now is your chance to make this beauty yours! Art will be sturdily packaged and shipped via insured priority mail. Please have a look at my other auctions, and thanks for stopping by!
