Take a look at this blue-eyed beauty with original mohair wig-- a very early doll in a desirable mold number. She is even in her antique clothing with underwear. This is a beautifully dressed antique doll, 21" tall, made by the German firm of Johannes Kestner. She is the early mold 156. Her head is incised:J Made in Germany 13156Head and China Painting: Her china painting is extremely well done, with the early style typical pale wash allover and lightly rosy cheeks. She has inset porcelain teeth and her early mold features multistroke brows over flat bisque. She has finely painted upper and lower lashes, with a full cupid's bow mouth. Her beautiful cornflower blue glass eyes still sleep well and she has huge rounded eyecuts. Wig: She has her original honey brown mohair wig in a classic Kestner style, with long, soft curls all around. Still retains her original plaster pate in the wig. Wig is very clean and soft. It is a little thin in the back but can be fluffed to look great!Body: Her fully jointed composition body has its original surface and is in marked Excelsior Germany 3. Clothing: Her clothing is incredible--beautiful and in remarkable condition for being over 120 years old! She is wearing an ecru silk dress with a princess waistband, puffy sleeves with 2" wide lace edging at the neckline and sleeve edges. The skirt has double row of tucking where it connects to the bodice. Hemline is wide with pulled threadworm at the seam. Her antique pantaloons, camisole and petticoat are all in a heavy polished cotton. Condition: The bisque head has no chips, cracks, rubs or hairlines. Body condition is very good, strong and intact. Clothing has age appropriate toning, with a very few tiny pinhead sized holes, here and there, but in very very good condition for its age and fabric content. It is a very beautiful dress.
