Nakamichi 1000 DAT Digital Audio Recorder - $1,995 - (Gainesville, FL)
This is the relatively rare Nakamichi 1000 DAT Digital Audio Recorder. I purchased the unit new in 1990 (Serial No. A501 01403) and used it for approximately 10 years (after which I transitioned to other forms of digital recording). The unit is in beautiful condition. I have tested the unit (including recording new tracks) and it works perfectly. Because I'm using one of the better up to date D/A converters (PS Audio), the playback quality is far superior to that of the original years when I used Nakamichi's D/A converter. This includes the remote control (pictures included), which is in working order and beautiful condition. I have included a picture of the underside of the remote control to show that some rubber-like cushioning has been removed. Deterioration was a common problem with this rubber-like cushioning. The remote control will be shipped separately (no room in the DAT carton). I'm asking for $100 on shipping (weighty and very large original packing and separate shipping of the remote control). To the extent that the actual shipping cost is less than $100, I will refund the difference. I've included a picture of both original shipping cartons. Each of the cartons contains another inner carton with the original packing material. The larger carton looks a little roughed up on the outside but it is still pretty solid and will be thoroughly taped to fortify it.
