Antique 17 1/2" German rare china head doll with "jewels" - $175 - (Orchard Park, NY)
Please look at all the photos, they are part of the description. This is a very hard to find china head that still has her original glass "jewels" that are outlined with 24 carat gold trim. The gold paint is a little worn in places but that's not surprising since she's over 100 years old. The doll is not marked but was probably made in Germany. It's very unusual to find a china head with two "jewels" affixed to the shoulder plate. Her head is perfect, there is a slight paint rub on the front of her hair. There is a hairline on the front shoulder plate (seen in photos), it goes to her neck, is stable and does not effect her face. She's on a very nice leather body, it's in good condition and not leaking. The arms have been replaced, the lower parts are wooden. This dolls replaced clothing is exceptional. She has a full set of underwear and wears a beautiful sheer fabric dress and a sheer dotted Swiss tunic with Irish cotton trim. The tunic is tied around the waist with a white satin ribbon. This is a beautiful and regal doll. The doll stand is not included in the sale.
