Victorian Edwardian Etruscan Revival Italian Micromosaic Necklace Pastel Colors - $115 - (Mcbride, BC)
This ultra feminine Etruscan Revival micromosaic necklace has a desirable and not easy to find pastel color palette. It is either late Victorian or very early Edwardian, an overlapping time period when subtle shades of color like Ashes of Roses were all the rage. Tiny tesserae (glass tiles) were cemented into brass to fashion an antique pattern of stars and leaf accents. No stones are missing though two tiny pink tesserae are set a bit deeper than the others surrounding them. As a rule of thumb, the older these antique necklaces are, the smaller their glass tiles and the more elaborate their patterns. Please look closely at the pictures and you will see that this necklace is a very old one. The brass metal of this necklace features the elaborate decorative work of the Etruscan Revival style popular during this era. The way the drops are suspended on brass rods is a further indication of the age of this charming antique Italian necklace.
