21" Original Marked Martha Chase Heavy Stockinette Boy Doll - $2,450 - (Winona, TX)
Estate Item doll 28 This doll is an original Martha Chase stockinette doll stamped under the arm area. It is a heavy doll. He measures 21 inches long. His flesh paint is a beige color. He has a shade of blue eye color. The artist started making these dolls at the turn of the century. This one has a tiny bit of color missing worn from the lip area. Around the seams of the head are the seam line and sewn on applied ears. This boy doll is in pretty good condition with some wear to seams where the joints attach to the body. His clothes are appropriate and more than likely not original, but original style and look wonderful on him. He has small paint spots worn off overall but no holes. His is a stockinette style that was painted. Face is painted. I have no way of knowing if it has ever had a touch up through the years, but he looks good and original with paint looking weathered or aged. This doll is heavy and solid. It was well cared for in a private museum for a number of years. Nice original for any private or public museum.
