This listing is for an authentic vintage sample of barbed wire fencing. This wire features a Louis T. Larson Wing patent, dated February 26, 1878. This wire is called "Wing's Four Point Two-Staple Barb on Two Twisted Lines" by collectors. (ref. Hagemeier 618-B) This wire features two twisted together round line wires. Barbs are four pointed made from two round barbing wires. Barbing wires are made into a long staple and a short staple. Short staple is set atop line wire with points out. Long staple is placed under the two line wires, with points straddling lines. Points of long staple go inside the short staple and are bent back over same side of the line wires. Wire sample is 18-1/2" in length. Wire shows age and use wear with light pitting. There are three barbs, well spaced, and cut is well centered. There are no bent, broken or missing points. Wire is in good used condition. This sample of antique barbed wire is absolutely old and authentic and sells with no reserve. Shipping will be $3.50, within the United States.
