Adorable, 18" antique black "surprised" eye cloth boy doll, Freundlich USA,1930 - $139 - (Sparta, NJ)
Here for your collecting pleasure is this, hard-to-find, all original, firmly stuffed, black cloth toddler boy doll by Ralph A. Freundlich, New York, New York, circa 1930. Originally advertised as one of their special line of "goo-goo" eye dolls, he measures about 14" tall with a soft stuffed, cloth body and large molded and painted (rich chocolate brown) cloth head with molded mask type face and curly looped, black yarn hair framing his face beneath his farmer-style hat with wide brim and big red bow tie. Designed with their signature, big black eyes he has long painted eyelashes, rosy cheeks and a closed mouth. His body is covered with the original, red and white checker printed, polished cotton overalls and denim blue cotton shirt with big buttons. He has shaped feet and mitt-type hands, no fading or stains and no odors as he is from a smoke free home. See our photo for book description on page 224, "Collec.
