RARE Commodore CBM 4040 Dual IEEE Drive - Powers on - Works! Pet 8032 9000 4032 - $399 - (Liverpool, NS)

Offered here is a VERY RARE Vintage Commodore CBM 4040 DUAL Disk Drive that was issued by Commodore in the early 80s. This was the least expensive dual drive at the time and is somewhat compatible with the C64 1541 drive. This drive was designed to be used with the Commodores 3000, 4000, 8000, 9000 & B series computers. Even a C64 or Vic 20 if you have an IEEE cartridge. The physical condition of the drive is exceptional. On the outside it looks almost new. The inside is very clean also but it appears that drive 0 has been replaced as it is noticeably more dusty than the rest of the insides. Drive 0 is also a bit noiser than D1 so it could probably use some lubrication. The unit powers on fine and completes the self test as it should. I tested the drive to a limited degree. Both drives read a directory and load a program. Drive 0 will format a disk. I did not check D1 for formatting. Drive seems to work fine. These drives are seldom offered, especially in working condition. Because of the nature of vintage electronics I am selling this AS IS Parts or REPAIR. However at time of listing, the drive worked as described. Please bid accordingly. It has been stored in a dry place for many years.
