Two Vintage Black Plastic Bakelite? 1 ½'' Shank Buttons / Abalone Center Inset - $5 - (Staples, MN)

Excellent vintage condition. I am unsure if this is Bakelite. The abalone is encased in clear substance and “framed” with the button. Very unusual, very pretty. Please see photos. When the light strikes these they are very beautiful with a soft shimmery glow, hard to capture with a camera unfortunately.
