CIVIL DEFENSE CDV-457 MODEL 2 RADIOLOGICAL DEMONSTRATION UNIT - $125 - (Gonzales, TX)
This CD V-457 Radiological Demonstration Unit, Model No. 2. is a geiger counter especially designed for classroom demonstrations. It was produced in 1959 followed by a model 3 in 1960 and a 3A in 1961. It operates on a normal 110 volt AC power supply and produces both visible and audible responses to nuclear radiation. Used primarily in teaching basic nuclear radiation physics and for decontamination demonstrations and was distributed together with a variety of other CD V instruments and accessories as a kit for training and demonstration purposes. A good addition to any civil defense collection. Please note: A copy of the original manual is included with this unit; however, this instrument is not operational and is to be used as a display model only. The power cord is not grounded and brittle insulation renders it unsafe without further repairs.
