Rare Waltham Riverside Maximus 23 Jewel Sz 16 SOLID GOLD - 9ct. - $1,299 - (Flowery Branch, GA)
I've been holding this gorgeous running Waltham Riverside Maximus pocket watch in my safe for years. It has a high grade Waltham 23j movement that is as close to pristine as I have ever seen. It just sparkles! I don't any stray screw driver scratches, no signs of rust or oxidation! It's just gorgeous and free of visual defects!! The movement is housed in a very fine hallmarked solid 9ct yellow gold case with thick glass crystal. The front cover snaps in place and the back has a dust cover and back cover both are hinged. There are a few very minor scratches and ting dings on the back cover from normal use. These tiny marks are only visible because the cover is so bright and shiny that the tinyest mark can be seen if you look closely. In my opinion the case is in very fine near mint condition. 9ct. hall marks are on the bow, and both back covers. Notice the bow is tight and the crown really doesn't show any wear. I've not yet mentioned the dial but it is the first thing you see. And it's a beauty! It is an original Waltham Maximus double sunk dial with fancy script Waltham logo and hour markers. It has attractive railroad track minute markers around the outer chapter.. The seconds chapter is large and marked with 10 second markers and railroad track second marks arouns the outside edge. The dial looks perfect! There are no flaws on the dial that I can see. Oh, and the hands are marvelous! They have their original factory luster. There not much more that I can say about this wonderful solid gold Maximus pocket watch. But if you have any questions please ask before bidding. I do not know when the watch was last cleaned so while it runs the new owner should consider having it serviced.
