Antique Print Map Stannard & Son's Perspective View of the Seat of War in Egypt - $400 - (Mount Laurel, NJ)
The item is an antique print of a map titled "Stannard & Son's Perspective View of the Seat of War in Egypt", dated July 17, 1882, by Alfred Concanen. I bought this map at a huge garage sale of antique items. The map is a folded map and measures 25 inches X 19 inches when unfolded. It is made of a heavy type of paper (not sure if it's linen or not). I searched the internet for one like it and found a scanned image of one in the National Museum of Spain, so I am 99% sure that is it real. From my understanding, the map was drawn by the artist for use in printed publications such as newspapers and magazines to inform readers of events that occurred during times of war. Unfortunately, the map is not in perfect condition and I have tried to take pictures of areas where there are tears. Most notably, there is about a one-inch tear to the top left of the map, another one-inch tear to the bottom center of the map, and several small gaps where some seams fold. The damage is limited to such small rips and tears and looks repairable. I haven't tried to make repairs myself. After receiving payment I will mail the map in a small box to the winner.
