Large 18th Century Matthew West Irish Sterling Silver Trophy Loving Cup w/ Cover! This wonderful antique Irish silver covered trophy loving cup has a great form with repousse swags around the center and leaf designs around the base and lid. It has leaf capped handles with figural bud finial and is decorated with hand chased family crests on the raised medallions, as well as on the edge of the cover. It has the makers mark for Matthew West of Dublin and dates from the 18th Century. It was presented to Helen Orlan, Club Champion at Preakness Hills Country Club in 1953. It weighs 48.40 troy ounces and measures approximately 13 + ½ inches tall to the top of the finial by 12 inches across the handles ( 5 + ¾ inches across the rim) and 4 + 7/8 inches across the base.
