930 Indian Territory GEM Cherokee D.W. Lipe Ledger 1897 With Official Business!. Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS First Class Package. This is the second of two ledgers I'm listing that belonged to Lipe. This one starts in 1896 and has entries to about 1905. Lipe was treasurer of the Cherokee Nation at this time. The treasure in this ledger starts on page 178 and is the official tally of the votes in Cherokee Nation on January 31, 1899 concerning the Dawes severalty act. The tally is broken down by town or district and is signed by Lipe as the official tally. There are 82 pages of ledger entries and some pages missing that were used for something or full. On page 140 and on there are some written accounts of different things including the Civil War, very interesting. From page 181-184 there are entries pertaining to farming, wheat, cattle etc. quite a treasure here!
