INDIAN STERLING ENTREE DISH c1820 COPLEY & CO. (RARE - LISTED 5 YEARS) 105 OZ. A fine and extremely rare c1820 Copley & Co. sterling entree dish and cover. The set retains the original sterling interior liner. The firm listed only five years 1819-1925. An internet search reveals one other item, a pair of tiny casters in the Victoria and Albert Museum. Without question, one of the most rarely observed Indian colonial silver work shops. From our personal collection of 45 years. Raised rectangular with petal gadroon trim. Well fit interior liner. Matching domed center outer cover retains the original George III style shell and leafy vine ring handle - twist and lock to cover. Turned ivory center florette panel and tapering leaf handles. Atop cast fan shell crown lion pad and claw feet. Never monogrammed. This Copley & Co. Calcutta sterling entree dish and cover is 15 inches across handles and the set weighs 104 1/2 standard ounces. Hallmarked and shown. In fine condition. Rich sterling patina throughout. Retains original detail. Handles retain the original turned ivory center.
