Signed, papered wakizashi by Dewa Daijo Fujiwara Kunimichi, almost exactly 16 inch (40cm) nagasa. He is one of the highest rated (Jo-Jo Saku, higher ranking of sai-jo saku is only nine people for shinto) Shinto smiths, a student of Horikawa Kunihiro.This blade clearly imitates Sadamune, which is not unusual since Horikawa school specialized on working in the style of classic Soshu masters. It is likely from his later works (around 1650?). Comes in a nice old koshirae, with horn kashira (court style), fuchi and menuki in Yanagawa style, fuchi is signed Yanagawa Mitsuyasu, the one who is a student of Yanagawa Naomitsu (1800). Signature is guaranteed and the work is in classic Yanagawa style with rich detail, and sharp outlines. Tsuba is gold leaf on iron foundation.
