Vintage Working SONY D-5 CD Player (First Portable CD Player) 1985 D-5a Discman. Condition is Used. Vintage Sony D-5 portable CD player. This particular model holds the distinction of being the first portable CD player ever made. Finding a working D-5 is pretty hard to find these days. This particular CD player is pretty good looking for its age and works great. This particular CD player was manufactured in June of 1985. All of the buttons work and display work flawlessly. It sounds fantastic through headphones. It isn’t perfect cosmetically but it does still look very nice. It has some minor scratches and scuffs that are most noticeable at the top right portion of the lid near the corner. All defects are visible in the pictures. Unit was tested with the adapter plugged in to outlet. See photos for details!
