Nine Element Arrowhead Blanket Shawl c.1920's, attributed Pendleton, Ecru/Tan - $599 - (Santa Fe, NM)

This is a Nine Element Arrowhead Blanket/Shawl, with a wool weft and cotton warp, attributed to Pendleton Woolen Mills, circa 1920's. This blanket measures 62" x 59" and has an ecru and tan background with vibrant geometric reds with maroon and orange. The Pendleton Woolen Mills of Oregon opened in 1909. The 9 Element Arrowhead blanket was named for the esteemed Chief Joseph and introduced in the 1920's. This blanket in the listing is considered to be in relic condition. The fringe is mostly missing, there is no Pendleton label, holes and a rust colored mark approximately 1" in diameter (see photos). This blanket has been professionally cleaned. Another variation of this 1920's pattern (golden yellow on tan) was part of a 2006 exhibition "Woven Rainbows: American Indian Trade Blankets", at the Baltimore Museum of Art.
