Hello -Bonjour Welcome - Bienvenue Thank you - Merci Bye - Au revoir Greeting from Canada to the world Asian antique original Japan painting,scroll,print on paper ( 1900-1940) Measures of the frame : height : approximate 12.5” inches width : approximate 16” inches measures of the painting,scroll,print without the frame : W15 1/8” ( 386 mm ) X H 9 3/4 “ ( 249mm) the condition of the print as showing in the photos description. this Japanese print was undoubtedly once bound into a book as an illustration of one of the scenes in it, and probably dates to sometime a little before or after 1900. While the blacks and some of the colors used for shading appear to have been machine-printed,most of the brighter colors ( in the clothing and especially the reds ) were surely applied by hand after the base image was printed. They lie in clear layers on top of one another where they overlap, some brushstrokes are detectable, and as shown in the last sample pic, they bleed through the paper to some extent. The caption at the top and upper left are a little difficult to read , but say that the scene shown is a view of hanami ( cherry blossom viewing ) from the banks of the Tama river.....
