Vintage Harry B Jay “Columbia” cornet in original case NICE s.n. 2763 ca. 1914 - $350 - (Thurmont, MD)

A very nice, ready-to-play H B Jay Columbia cornet. Serial number 2763 places it right around 1914. Silver plate probably 85%, gold-wash near 100% (see pictures) valves are smooth, quiet and quick. Good compression. A few dings, but no major dents. All slides move. Case is solid, but old and beat up. This example is a bit smaller than some of the trumpet-cornets made by Jay; I don't have a way to measure, but the bore is smaller than my other Jay. (i.e. this lead pipe will not fit the other horn.) A good instrument for agile "Clarke" type playing. Comes with an early Besson 5M mouthpiece. Look carefully at the photos and please ask any questions before bidding. Thanks for looking!
