Super Rare 1925 Personalized Hand Written letter from Mrs. Henry Ford on her own Florida Vacation Letter Head "The Mangoes Fort Myers, Florida" Postal stamp etc. showing even where it was mailed from."Forth Myers, FLA 1925" This letter mentions Dearborn and when they will arrive back. The Fords moved into their Mansion in 1915 which was built in Dearborn, Michigan. This letter goes into detail about an Artist I assume is French Painter Felix Ziem(1821-1911) She wants this Art Dealer to possibly take the Ziem back as she won't have a place for it if she takes the larger picture. Recent Find here in Connecticut(Which I can show where I obtained it legally) Thomas Edison developed a personal friendship with automobile magnate Henry Ford by the early 1910s. In 1914, Ford and his family camped in the Everglades with the Edison's, and in 1916, Ford purchased the property next door to Seminole Lodge for $20,000 and called it "The Mangoes," Ford’s Craftsman bungalow estate, was built by New Yorker Robert Smith in 1911 and included lush grounds brimming with citrus on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River. Ford took a few weeks out of his busy schedule to vacation at "The Mangoes" for several winters, often around Edison’s February 11th birthday celebration. Ford enjoyed fishing, sightseeing, dancing, and entertaining during his time in Fort Myers. After Edison’s death in 1931, Ford discontinued his visits and sold the home in 1945.
