Incredible one of a kind early American engraved brass case and wrought iron flint striker Hand tooled one of a kind item - Pre 1800s Excellent original overall condition! Sized for the pocket or purse.The artwork on the top lid is engraved with a pitcher and wine glasses on either side.The spring catch is in perfect condition and the fling striker is made of hand wrought iron. It has two small rat tails ends.This can be used as intended, but the surface may need to be made course to make the flint spark. This item is a fore-runner to todays hand held butane lighters. It measures 2" x 2 3/4". This is an incredibly rare one of a kind hand made item. Most of these were made out of tin. This one has a case made of brass making it even rarer. Absolutely beautiful!
