RARE! GRETSCH ARCHTOP ACOUSTIC GUITAR.....1933-'34 - $550 - (Palermo, ME)
This is a rare 1934 Gretsch archtop acoustic. This is one of the earliest Gretsch archtop guitars from the Gretsch American Orchestra Series which were first produced in 1933. I believe that this is the #35 model made in '33 or '34. It has an ebony fretboard, bakelite pick guard, original trapeze tailpiece, 24 1/2" scale, pearl scroll logo on rounded peak headstock. This guitar has been partially restored and is being sold as is. It has had cracks repaired as can be seen in the pics but is solid with no splits now, the neck is nice and straight, but the tuners are not original. The original tuners were red bakelite and I still have them from when I got this guitar many years ago but they are not useable. Still very playable although I wouldn't want to take it on the road. This guitar comes with a beautiful well worn case with purple felt interior, again not original but the guitar fits in this case perfectly. Reasonable offers will be considered. Again, this is a rare collectors item, so please take this into account if considering this purchase. These old guitars are very HTF in this condition.
