Rare Antique Marblehead Pottery Vase. Size 3" tall by about 5" at widest part and about 3.5" at top. Good Condition with no chips or cracks. There is some white calcium residue inside on the sides of vase. Also a few tiny imperfections in the glazing on outside of vase, see photos. The photos show the vase a little lighter blue than it is, rather it is a darker matte blue. Rare Arts and Crafts Shape. Marblehead Pottery has one of the most desirable glazes in the arts and crafts market. Dr. Herbert Hall started the Marblehead Pottery in 1904, as therapy for patients at his Devereux Sanitarium. His therapeutic workshop evolved into a business, and in 1915, Arthur Baggs took over the production operation and continued to produce the pottery until 1936. Marblehead pottery is characterized by its simplicity of form and decoration, as well as its distinctive matte glazes.
