FRED THOMPSON CARVED BLACK CHILD - $675 - (Atlanta, GA)
This fabulous doll was hand carved by Fred Thompson in 1976. She is carved beautifully with a turned up nose, pouty mouth with pink painted lips, dimples in her cheeks and big brown glass eyes. The artistry of her face and the mastery of the carving of the body is amazing. The body is in two parts so she can swivel at the waist area. She has ball joints at the elbows,shoulders and knees so she can be fully posed. She has a fabulous Curley black wig with lace bow. She has carved antique style child boots that are painted black. At the base of her neck is carved “ F B Thompson 76” and under her left foot is carved “F T 76”. I think she was carved in the style of the "Blythe" doll that was so popular in the 1970's. She is carved out of mahogany which Mr. Thompson is supposed to have said he would not use again as it was too hard to carve. Includes FREE Shipping.
