Most of my items came from auctions and estate sales in the South or from my private collection, all acquired over a span of 50 years. Similar items will sometimes be grouped together. Please examine my photographs carefully as they constitute part of the description. Please excuse glare and shadows on photos. Feel free to ask questions as there are no returns unless I have misrepresented and item. No international shipping. Shipping and handling costs are my best estimate for cost of supplies and actual shipping to any point in United States. My schedule will not allow pick-up of your purchases- no exception to this. I accept PayPal only as per eBay rules. This beautiful wooden (I believe fruit wood)cylindrical shaped screw-top box measures about 3" in diameter and 3 3/4" tall. I purchased it directly from a descendant of Philip Pendleton Slaughter(Rev. War soldier) about 25 years ago. The lady had all sorts of furniture and small items, including documents related to The Society of the Cincinnati. This was one of the few small items I could afford. Family tradition relates that George Washington was a frequent visitor to the old home on Slaughter's Mountain, Virginia where this came from. This little wooden box with its small mother of pearl disc inset into its top is in excellent condition. When placed on a level surface it has a tiny wobble because of uneven shrinkage of the round bottom. One almost imperceptible age line (?shallow crack) can be seen on the side. The inside is immaculately clean. Will start at a fraction of what I paid for it.
