NOS Unissued ST-120/PR harness for carrying the PRC 8 9 10 Vietnam era radio - $42 - (Vicksburg, MS)
This is a NEW IN THE PACKAGE ST-120/PR Harness that is dated on the package 11/53. This is one of the very early contract ST-120/PR harnesses.The quote below is from one of the respected military radio authorities on the net N6CC Navy Combat Comms. He states in his write up about the PRC 8 9 and 10 radios: The PRC-10 began entering service with the US Army in 1951. This was during the Korean War but it is not yet clear exactly when, where or in what numbers it began replacing the SCR-300 or other tactical radios in that conflict. While the ground war in Korea was largely fought using WWII vintage weapons and equipment, new technology was just starting to appear. I have seen a photo of a PRC-10 being used in Korea along with a PRC-6 by the 7th Infantry Division in 1953. More research is required here. They were clearly used by US forces in Europe and elsewhere later into the 1950’s and early 1960’s. You will usually encounter these harnesses as described as Vietnam era which is where the harness got much of its use but I've yet to see one dated this early. I have seen them dated as late as 1976! I opened the package just today to take photos for this listing. As you can see in the photos, it is a rich army green! One other interesting this about this item is that the packaging says Admiral Corporation of Chicago, IL 11/53 but when I unfolded the harness it actually bears the stamp of BEARSE MFG. 1953!
