VINTAGE M39 NIKON NIKKOR-S.C 5CM F1.4 DUAL RANGE RF LENS, BAKELITE CASE - $425 - (Chico, CA)
From the Nikon rangefinder days, an excellent condition M39 mount dual range Nikon Nikkor-S.C 5cm f1.4 lens in original Bakelite bubble as shown. Fits and works well on most cameras that take M39/Leica threads lenses. Interesting serial number of 333033, focus scale in feet only. No original cap but we have a nice metal cap of similar vintage with a felt lining branded Wollensak (from a vintage movie lens) that fits it quite well but is not shown. This is a special version, has a dual range focus feature, at about 3.5 feet you can feel a slight detent where the rangefinder coupling no longer is applicable but the lens continues to focus down to about 1.6 feet. The more common variation does not have this and focuses down to about 3 feet. Excellent cosmetic, mechanical and optical condition, ready to use. Glass is quite clear to the naked eye, no apparent fog, no separation, a small number of tiny wipe marks on the front element that you can't really see with the naked eye but with a strong loupe and flashlight you can make them out. Bottom line is the glass and coatings are very good, nothing that will hinder the lens from doing its job. Mechanically very nice, smooth focus and infinity lock, smooth aperture ring with good detents, excellent cosmetics overall but not mint, again if you look closely you can see some very minor usage marks. Aperture blades have oil on them as is common but not a factor as the diaphram is manual. If you've been looking for a nice example of one of these please consider this one.
