Elaborate c1900s Art Nouveau Carved Chair Iris & Foliate, Cabriole Legs MUST SEE - $695 - (Webster, MN)
Carved Art Nouveau Chair circa early 20th centuryDescriptionShaped back carved with a frame of irises enclosing a similarly-carved panel over a solid pine seat on leaf-carved cabriole legs with elaborate foliate-carved knees. This is a strong example of Art Nouveau with the liberal use of symmetric and whiplash scrolls. No particular maker can be ascribed, but the details are reminiscent of the work of French architect designer, Hector Guimard, (1867-1942). Stands 38" tall at back, 19" at widest point, overall depth 15". Seat height 18", seat width is 17".Likely walnut with solid pine seat. The chair is in very good antique condition. There is an area of loss to the back (as shown) and surface scuffs and wear, as expected with age. The chair appears to have been repaired and stripped at some point, also as shown. It is sturdy and strong and ready to use and enjoy. Winning bidder to pay shipping, and the chair will be professionally packaged. I have estimates from Greyhound Express for $195, if you would prefer another carrier, that can be arranged, but may be at an additional cost. Please view photos carefully and ask all questions prior to bidding.
