Offered for sale is an absolutely Fabulous Youth Crocheted Coverlet, featuring the Child's Bedtime Prayer attributed to Joseph Addison in 1711. This incredible hand crocheted ivory coverlet depicts lovely nursery figures on the top portion of the spread and includes the entire prayer. The sides and bottom portion feature a series of darling teddy bears. The coverlet is designed for a youth or twin bed. The top of the coverlet measures 39" wide and there are 12" drops on either side. The bottom of the coverlet is fitted for a poster bed with cutouts. The coverlet is 88" wide with an additional 14" drop on the bottom. The spread is long enough to cover pillows at the top. The inscription reads: NOW I LAY ME DOWN TO SLEEPI PRAY THEE LORD, MY SOUL TO KEEPIF I SHOULD DIE BEFORE I WAKEI PRAY THEE LORD, MY SOUL TO TAKEIF I SHOULD LIVE FOR OTHER DAYSI PRAY THEE LORD, TO GUIDE MY WAYS.
