Opening Reception and Exhibit: Between the Seasons - N.A. - (Penn Yan, NY)
The Arts Center of Yates County will host a new and exciting exhibit entitled Between the Seasons from March 18th through April 27th. An opening reception will be held on Friday, March 22nd from 5:00-7:00PM with Climbing Bines Hop Farm and Brewery giving us a tasting of their craft ales. Light refreshments will be provided by artists and volunteers. This exhibit will highlight 2 artists from Rochester, Laura Wilder and Kathy Armstrong, along with artwork by other Arts Center exhibiting artists. Laura Wilder was 1st a graphic designer and commercial illustrator, a career that was unsatisfying for her. After discovering the designs and philosophy for the Arts and Crafts movement, she embraced it and was inspired to learn printmaking. She has become a Master Artisan in the Roycroft Renaissance. Her vintage style block prints involve separate hand-carving and printings of each color of the print which is done on an antique hand-cranked letterpress.
