John explained it like this. The Blackfeet were a horse culture from the mid 1700's. So when they passed away their best horse was killed and put with them under the scaffolding so they could ride him to the other side. This painting represents warriors riding into the other side after they have passed. As they get closer to the other side the bodies of the horses and their bodies slowly fade into spirit form. Basicly ghost riders going to heaven to be with their ancestors for eternity. John Paints Blackfeet cultural spirituality with current colors. His paintings are very unique and beautiful and would make a great addition to any home or Native American art collection
