Antique Silver Boson’s whistle Name and Ship Engraving early 19th cent. - $475 - (Harrison, ME)

From a Maine estate comes this nice early ships officer Boson’s or Boatswain whistle made of silver. The name J Lawton is hand engraved on one side and on the reverse is an engraving of a Naval frigate or schooner. There is a listing of a John Lawton who served on the Privateer Lucy out of Portland Maine around 1812. As well as other J Lawton’s in Maritime records. It’s in good condition with age cracks and some separation by the barrel but is very solid and still sounds. Also there are numerous small dents and scratches please see the photos for your own determination of condition and origin. I am happy to answer any questions or provide more photos.
