6 Antique Charles Dickens Characters Etched Silverplate Napkin Rings OOAK 19th C - $500 - (Walnut, IL)

Offering this truly fantastic set of six hand-etched silverplate napkin rings depicting famous Charles Dickens literary characters. This one of a kind set is still in its original velvet-lined box. The characters depicted are: Tom Pinch (Martin Chuzzlewit), Capt. Cuttle (Dombey & Son), Jack Dawkins (Oliver Twist), Mister Mantalin (Nicholas Nickleby), Mrs. Gamp (Martin Chuzzlewit), and Mr. Peckniff (Martin Chuzzlewit). The inside of each napkin ring is marked with a British registration mark. The plate is in beautiful condition for its age (late 19th century). All of the etchings are finely executed. There is a rub to one gentleman's head (bottom right in the front row) and minor display scuffing, but the characterizations are otherwise clean, clear and charmingly detailed. A crest with the initials WP is etched on the back of each ring. This is a phenomenal, one-of-a-kind set for true Dickens fans.
