Scarce Antique "ROARING 20's" Flat "Skimmer" Straw Hat, Excellent Condition DESCRIPTION: Scans show it all.....Now an antique and almost 100 years old , this straw skimmer was popular from 1900 through the "roaring 20's". Made of light straw for summer use, with a flat top and a wide (2") striped colored band around the top. Top is 3 1/4" high from the flat skimmer part. Flat part is 12 1/2" x 10 1/2". Round (actually a tad oval), with rough, "serrated", triple thickness edge. Has a very wide 1 3/4" wide leather hat band around the inside of the crown. Don't see a size, but the head opening measures about 6 1/4" x 7 5/8". INSIDE CIRCUMFERENCE IS 21". Maker label "Winfield, 5th Avenue" is on the top of the crown and the inside is lined with mesh for coolness. A great looking hat for a period collection, for a theatre prop, to wear with an antique car, or just to wear to parades!!! In excellent condition overall, with no visible signs of damage!! YOU RARELY SEE THESE HATS ANY MORE, AND VERY RARELY IN THIS NICE CONDITION!!! I believe this hat was worn, but it hardly looks it. Someone took very good care of it for all these years!!!
