This listing offers a lot of 7 Eastern Bank of West Killingly, Connecticut obsolete currency notes.There are 2 - Five Dollars varieties, 2 - Three Dollars varieties , 1 - Two Dollar and 2 - One Dollar varieties. Each of the denominations were signed by Bank President Frederick Chittenden who was also involved later in the Bank of Litchfield County in Milford, Connecticut and the Woodbury Bank of Woodbury , Connecticut. The Eastern Bank collapsed when W.E. Chittenden (presumably a relative of Frederick) a New York City broker who held many of their so-called assets, claimed to have failed financially. Frederick Chittenden resigned from the bank in West Killingly in January 1853.All three banks were known to have distributed large amounts of worthless paper money.This obsolete currency is in exceptionally good condition, especially considering its age.
