VINTAGE C.E. LEIGHTON 4 STRING BANJO WITH CASE - $175 - (Middletown, OH)
Welcome to TUNE'S TREASURES! Offering today a VINTAGE C.E. LEIGHTON 4 STRING BANJO w/CASE. This was my Dad's banjo, that he purchased to learn to play. So I know very little about it. I've been told that CE Leighton was a performer in the late 1800's, and banjos were made with his name in the early 1900's. I was told that this banjo was actually manufactured by Stromberg- Voisinet. I was also informed that this model is from the 1930's, and possibly could be rare? It has 4 strings, and the resonator back comes off by 2 thumb screws. Head is in good shape. Strings appear to be in good shape, but have been loosened. Body is in great shape, no cracks. The neck appears to be straight, no bow, and very sturdy. The metal needs a good cleaning, as it has set a few years. Case is in good condition. The only "flaws" that I can see, are small hairline cracks of the pearl inlay, (see pics.) This also comes with 2 keys and a few old strings. My Dad lived in Maine, and I've seen C.E. Leightons name in a program from Portland, ME. Maybe he was from the Maine area? I will try and answer any questions that you may have, but I'm limited on banjo knowledge. Banjo will be securely packed and boxed for shipping. Pics will be taken of the packing process for insurance purposes. ONLY SHIPPING TO LOWER 48 STATES OF USA, NO ALASKA, NO HAWAII, NO INTERNATIONAL. Any unused shipping cost will be refunded to your PayPal account! THIS ITEM SELLS AS IS, NO RETURNS OR REFUNDS! Please look at all pics for best description. Thanks for looking!
