Stunning Victorian Double Canopy; Jeweled Handle & Tips Parasol Umbrella Wow!! - $225 - (Rochester, IN)
We are pleased to offer this stunning Victorian parasol for your consideration. It has a dual canopy with black silk or taffeta on the outside and beautiful pink cabbage roses on the inside. The border on the outer canopy is scalloped. It has a silver colored metal handle which has no mark; maybe German silver. The handle is encrusted with amethyst colored glass on all sides and on the bottom. The silver arm is in a twisted candy cane pattern about mid-way up where it meets the original tassel and there is a provision for unscrewing the lower end of the arm. The part we found most amazing is that each of the ribs ends in a pretty little amethyst jewel and none are missing! There is a cloth tag on the arm that says it was made expressly for-- (someone---the name is torn) by Carson, Pirie, Scott. We find the condition to be outstanding given the age and the fragility of the fabrics. The outside canopy is faded to gray at the top and darkens to black. We don't think the coloring was meant to be that way but we could be wrong. Please examine the photos carefully to form your own opinion as to condition. We think it is pretty great. Due to the fragile nature of the old fabric, we did not attempt to open it till it clicked. Opening it all the way is at the risk of the buyer. We can not accept a return if the fabric is torn. It measures about 34” in diameter. We only accept PayPal as payment and we ask that you please pay promptly.
