Original vintage Ford Frick official national league baseball. ONL BALL. Includes the USN stamp above the official national league mark on the logo sweet spot. This indicates United States Navy. Below the sweet spot logo includes the Spalding logo. On the blank sweet spot is written in cursive “Barbers Point Game. Barbers point was the United States Naval facility on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. Many major league baseball players played exhibition games at that location. It was the jumping point for all things in the Pacific during World War II. Obtained in the 1980s from the World War II era concierge for the Leland house hotel. This was the residence of many Detroit tiger baseball players. Including Hank Greenberg. We also obtained items from Hank Greenberg from this gentleman. Greenberg was in the Army Air Force and served in the Pacific. He certainly pass through Hawaii on several occasions. While we cannot say with specificity that this ball was from Hank Greenberg, or used by Hank Greenberg, that is our belief. Still, it is in authentic era ball indicating from a game at barbers point.Without further photo matching which is probably impossible, we will never know who played with this ball at that game. What we can know, is that Ford Frick was the national league president from 1934 until 1951. So we can feel confident that the ball was used during that period. We will pack it properly for shipping.
