c.1890's ANTIQUE CARVED FIREPLACE MANTEL COLUMNS ARCHITECTURAL SALVAGE PILLARS - $3,500 - (Toledo, OH)
Here we have an exceptional pair of circa 1890's era ~ HAND CARVED FIGURAL FIREPLACE MANTEL COLUMNS ~ . These columns were acquired out of a beautiful old home in the old West End of Toledo, Ohio. These homes " mansions " are absolutely fabulous and such Families as the Libby's from Libby glass as well as many other prominent Toledo Families lived in that neighborhood in the early to mid 1900's . These columns are without a doubt the nicest we have ever had the opportunity to offer for sale and would be the focal point of most any room in your home you choose to use them in. They were originally part of a complete fireplace mantel and this is all that was found, tucked up in the rafters. They were obviously done by a master craftsman, and they have a wonderfully detailed look. I believe the front wood is mahogany but may be walnut? They measure approximately 63 1/2 inches tall by 10 3/4 inches wide by 5 3/4 inches deep " at the top " The over all condition is quite nice and well preserved as you can see. There are still a few old nails here and there, from when they were removed from the home. There is some expected wear and just a very little bit of damage "quite minor" here and there. All in all, they display wonderfully, and are truly amazing columns as you can see. I believe the finish is original, and they have a nice soft warm patina! If you've been looking for a very special pair of fireplace columns these may be the ones you have been waiting for. I have had these tucked away for several years, and was going to incorporate them into my home but never got around to it.
