[1883]., 8vo, 19.5x 14.5cm, with Sketches by Lovers of the Art, edited by Charles F. Orvis and A. Nelson Cheney, fifteen attractive chromolithographs of trout, salmon and bass flies. (149 flies), 1 map plate, in the original decorated green cloth, black end pages, black and gilt stamped pictorial decorated on the spine and upper cover, gilt top page edges a very good copy. Gilt is sharp with little to no wear. First Edition, First Thus "The book also includes colored representations of nearly one hundred and fifty artificial flies. Orvis, father of Mrs. Marbury whose Favorite Flies and their Histories was in 1892, was a tackle-maker, whose business is now carried on by his sons, Robert and Albert, (to this day) in the same pleasant village of Manchester,Vermont, in which their father lived. Cheney, a resident of Glens Falls, New York, was well known to his fellow-anglers as a conservationist.
